Deal of the Week

Each week the Editor reveals his own personal favourite pickup and provides a review as to why it is his DEAL OF THE WEEK

Nike Lebron 11 “Miami Nights”
Launch Date: 14/12/2013
Retail Price: £134.99
SALE PRICE: £64.99
Location: Nike Store, Westfield, Stratford

Lebron James is arguably the biggest name in professional basketball right now and with that tag comes a BIG shoe to fill. Since the Lebron XI was released back in October 2013 in the now legendary “Kings Pride” colourway, the shoe has gone from strength to strength.

“Miami” has proved the inspiration behind some of Lebrons biggest signature shoes and this colourway is no different. The flashes of pink represent the neon lights against a beautiful black backdrop. The Hyperposite technology that is being used more and more by Nike make this a very lightweight yet durable basketball boot.

The design and technology that  has gone into this shoe makes it worth the retail price alone. In most places it still is at full price and you can see why retailers are less keen to stick such a worthy shoe in the bargain bucket. Even if you don’t play basketball, you’ll need a pair of these shoes in the collection!

Nike Air Tech Challenge II “Hot Lava”
Launch Date: 24/01/2014
Retail Price: £104.99
SALE PRICE: £84.99
Location: Oki-Ni Online

2013 saw the return of the Nike Air Tech Challenge II ‘Wimbledon’ in a very satisfying white / green colourway, however, these went largely under the radar with only the hard core sneaker heads managing to bag a pair from the hugely restricted list of retailers. Just one month into 2014 and it looks like Nike are making more of an effort to push one of the most recognisable silhouettes on the tennis circuit.

The ‘Hot Lava’ colourway was made famous by the legendary Andre Agassi, although it had a resurgence of late when the mid sole was featured on the ever hyped Air Yeezy 2. It has a premium leather upper and the iconic splatter graphic, signed off with retro Nike woven label on the tongue.

If you picked up a pair of these for retail you considered yourself fortunate as some pairs are fetching between £150-£170 on eBay. So imagine our shock when online retailer Oki-Ni dropped them in their mid season sale to just £84! Sizes were limited but if you were fortunate enough to double up for 20% off RRP then we salute you.

Nike Lunar 180 Trainer SC PRM ‘Superbowl’
Launch Date: 27/01/2014
Retail Price: £118.95
SALE PRICE: £69.95
Location: Wellgosh Online

The big American sporting events always throw out some iconic sneakers in homage to their flair and exhibitionism. With the NBA All-Star game producing the superb NOLA (New Orleans) Gumbo pack, the NFL Superbowl had a LOT to live up to….but boy did it do the job!

The pack consisted of the above ‘Lunar 180 Trainer SC’ and the most recently released ‘Nike Air Trainer Max 94’ but it was the hugely hyped Air Trainer 1 ‘Silver Speed’ which grabbed all the headlines from this trio. As a result, the lunar faded under the radar despite boasting some of the Silver Speed’s lenticular looks not to mention that delicious 180 visible air cushioning unit.

However, all of this was good news for us as it meant we were able to pick up this solid, Quick Strike trainer at almost 40% off the retail price! Sizes are still available at the Wellgosh online store, and surprisingly this is the only place we’ve seen this shoe for under retail, let alone at such a large reduction. This purchase is almost a no-brainer to the SneakerDealsGB team…whatever you do, don’t sleep on it!

Adidas Superstar Foundation “Black / White”
Launch Date: 14/06/2015
Retail Price: £67.00
SALE PRICE: £46.90 (With code “JOBRIEN24”)
Location: Online: Trainer Station

The Adidas Superstar is the trainer of choice right now. Having really been forced into the limelight during the 80s by popular rap group Run DMC, the shoe has gone from strength to strength.

This latest model comes in an all leather upper, re-issued in an embossed monochrome colourway. The trademark 3 stripes finished in a white leather make this shoe instantly recognisable in addition to the signature black synthetic superstar shell toe. To finish, it displays the ‘Adidas’ and trefoil logos on tongue and on the heel trim. In summary, it’s a shoe no ‘sneakerhead’ wardrobe should be without.

Prices always remain solid with very few opportunities to grab this classic under retail. However, Trainer Station are currently doing a promotion where ALL footwear is 30% off across site with code “JOBRIEN24”. Do not miss out!

Nike Air Max Tavas “AM95 OG”
Launch Date: 01/08/2015
Retail Price: £95.00
SALE PRICE: £64.80 (With code “SNEAKER10”)
Location: Online: LifeStyle Sports

Since the introduction of the Ladies Nike Air Max Thea in 2014, there was demand for Nike to produce a male equivalent. A shoe that was more sleek than the standard ‘Air Max’ offerings but at the same time offered the wearer more masculinity than the Thea. And thus, the Tavas was born.

Since its introduction, there are now many versions of this wonderful shoe available. We have however chosen this specific example as it pays tribute to one of the greatest colourways to grace an OG Air Max…..the Neon Nike Air Max 95. Nike have replicated this ‘past’ colourway on a number of ‘present’ shoes including the always popular Air Max 1, but it is the Tavas that stands out above the rest.

You can currently get this shoe well under retail with code SNEAKER10 at LifeStyle Sports….and if the popularity of the Neon 95 is anything to go by, these will fly.
